I was super lucky to represent Budweiser at Squamish Valley Music Festival this year as one of their Canadian influencers. From beginning to end, the entire weekend was an amazing experience to say the least. The views were unreal, the weather was luckily perfect, for the most part and everyone who was there came for a good time. The festival spanned from Thursday to Sunday and included a large variety of artists, scenery, good vibes, and awesome beer thanks to Budweiser.
Thursday was super chill. It was more of a day to kind of build up the excitement for the rest of the weekend. The night was super enjoyable and some awesome music and lights were on display to hype everything up. Friday was when everyone started to roll in and you kind of saw how the fun from the night before contributed to the enthusiasm elicited by the fans in attendance.
On Friday there were so many amazing performances, the day had awesome weather and an even better set of performances. For me and a lot of fans, Friday night had to be the most surreal set of events to take place, it was perfect.
Little did many know, that there would be a surprise performance by the Arkells at the Budweiser Big Rig at 11pm that night, so right after Chance the rapper performed there was a huge mob of people running over there to make sure they didn't miss a second. There was a pathway Budweiser had paved for the fans to take which added to the night in tenfolds. The lighting, the atmosphere and the beer were all on point.
The Arkells performance itself had the crowd super ecstatic, everyone was singing along, grooving and enjoying their time. Their alternative sound meshed well with the diverse audience and the whole time you saw the fans enjoying the music and their #buds.
That was my first time getting to see the Arkells live, and I was surprised at how diverse and multi-faceted their sound was. Each and every song had a unique flavour; from uptempo to a more relaxed vibe, I for one really enjoyed the diversity. The Arkells really turned the big rig into the most energetic stage that night. Getting to capture some of that was amazing.
What a way to end the night! Budweiser really put something special together with this!
Saturday for me was an awesome experience because there was so much Canadian talent lined up. The talk from the morning until end was Drake, everyone was looking forward to that. My favourite area to hang out and shoot had to be around the Budweiser Big Rig. The beer and the music in that beer garden was the perfect combination. Midday it rained but I think it contributed to more and more people loosening up and having fun.
The rain really kicked everything off. More smiles, more movement, more energy. It really took the day up a notch. Seeing everyone enjoying their time is always a bonus for me more than anything. Moments like this really remind you that music and good people are always an extraordinary combination.
The best part of Saturday for me was seeing artists from my city go out and move hundreds of people. It was super inspiring and let me know that the amount of Canadian talent here in Toronto is something special. Drake and Jazz Cartier owned their respective stages that day and I got to first hand see what is possible with hard work and commitment to the fans.
All the stages were named after iconic parts of the Squamish and Vancouver Area. Jazz Cartier performed at stage Garibaldi, which highlighted a lot of up and coming artists who hold tons of promise, while Drake performed on the Tantalus stage to close the night and end things off the right way.
Warm weather the whole day through! Everyone had a great day, as did I. Solid lineup, cold beer and good DJ's at the big rig, I was enjoying every second of it. Spent most of the day around the Budweiser Big rig enjoying the atmosphere and handing sharing some bud with some of the locals. The beer can was an exclusive make for Squamish. I had so much fun getting to share some moments of people enjoying their beer and time that day.
This was probably my most exciting weekend of the summer. The adventure alone was something I'll never forget. Spending the entire week exploring and camping with @Budweiser and @Freerishad made the entire experience a memorable one. Seeing how much people love drinking Bud is a big part of why I enjoy my time each outing. Vancouver was beautiful and the sights seen over the weekend still playback. Next year is something to look forward to for sure.
Thank you Budweiser for everything. See more on my instagram page of my adventure with @Freerishad there. What an experience, what a weekend. Squamish is a must see. Here are some photos I was able to take nearby and share. Budweiser and Squamish hope to see you there next year.
