Bestival @ Hanlan's Point
Starting on June 12th, I began an experience with Budweiser I'd end up never forgetting. Bestival was first up and it was the first time it took place on The Toronto Islands, Hanlan's Point more specifically. Spanning from Friday to Saturday, it was good vibes all-around rain or shine.
The artists lined up were all unique in rhythm and knew how to move the crowd with their prowess and style. Nas, Florence and The Machines and Banks were definitely a favourite on the Main Stage.
The entire day, rain was expected and eventually... rain happened. However, it ended up being more good than a bad thing! It rained for a bit and once it stopped everyone came back out and was super ecstatic to enjoy the rest of the night. The rest of the the afternoon into the evening had everyone pumped that they were able to beat the weather and have a good time and enjoy their buds.
The main stage was where it was at, there were a strong variety of artists that it catered to all audiences and you could visibly see people enjoying themselves. The food was awesome and right beside the stage was the Budweiser Big Rig, it worked out perfectly.
The coolest part about the entire festival was Budweiser had a #RaiseYourBuds Moment in between each segment to highlight the fans that came out to see their favourite performer. There was a meter that could calculate how many Buds were raised and when it reached a certain point, these centaurs with beer at the back of them came around and interacted with the crowd. It was incredible and crazy at the same time. I think it complimented the fans who dressed up for Bestival perfectly.
As the night came in, and the lights went up, that had to be my favourite time to shoot and move around. The night ended well, and left excitement for the next morning.
The weather was perfect. From the beginning of the day until the end when NAS came on to perform, nobody at Bestival was complaining about how beautiful it was outside. With a new set of artists lined up to perform, the entire day went the way it was supposed to. People came dressed up, full of energy and ecstatic to enjoy the fun.
Being outside and being able to enjoy a nice cold beer is one of my favourite things to do, along with many others. One of the awesome things that happened to kick off the day was the Carnival Parade. Everyone was dancing, living in the moment and loving the music played by the DJ. What was cool about the parade was that it moved through the island. The further it moved, the more people would join in.
Following that, there were incredible performances for the rest of the day along with the continuation of the #RaiseYourBuds moment in between sets. From Banks to NAS, the second day of Bestival was beyond belief. The best part about the entire weekend for me was being around so many people who brought good energy to the festivities. The day started off amazing, and ending with some Flame spitting over at the Bollywood Arena and the a Firework display on the main stage.
10/10 for sure.
#NXNE @ Dundas Square
From the start to finish, the square was packed Friday Night. With a strong lineup of performances, everyone there knew they were in for an exciting night.
The Holy Gasp
The craziest thing for me, seeing all four of these bands live for the first time was how different their energy was. Each performance brought a funky vibe to the table in their own way. Every minute was amusing. I was lucky enough on behalf of Budweiser to share a meet and greet with some of the performers before hand. Super rewarding to see how down to earth and humble they were. We got to enjoy some Buds, chat for a bit and enjoy the night.
As the night progressed it got to a point where Budweiser came out to surprise the audience with something unexperienced by anyone before. A surprise show including some amazing DJs, and inspiring local artists. Next up Jazz Cartier and the long-time respected Shad.
The show was incredible. Good music and cold beer to end off the night. How could you not have great night. One of the craziest things was being able to work together with other influencers on this project and share a cumulative perspective on a memorable weekend.
Thank you Budweiser!
